In der Saison 1951/1952 trat die 1. Mannschaft der BSG Rotation Dresden in der DS-Oberliga (höchstmögliche Spielklasse) an und belegte den 4. Tabellenplatz. Im FDGB-Pokal wurde das Viertelfinale erreicht. Außerdem gewann die Mannschaft die Finalrunde des FDGB-Pokals auf sächsischer Landesebene und den Pokal der Sportvereinigung Rotation.

In den fünf Hauptrunden des FDGB-Pokals auf sächsischer Landesebene wurden die drei sächsischen Teilnehmer am Achtelfinale des FDGB-Pokals auf DDR-Ebene ermittelt, wobei die DS-Oberligisten erst in der 3. Hauptrunde in den Wettbewerb einstiegen. Unter den drei Siegern der 5. Hauptrunde (BSG Rotation Dresden, SV Deutsche Volkspolizei Dresden und BSG Empor Wurzen-West wurde kein sächsischer Pokalsieger ermittelt.
